A Climate and Environment Council has been established under the President of the Republic of Poland. Its tasks will include, among other things, developing policy directions in the field of environmental protection and the sustainable management of natural resources.
The Council includes, among others, Marcin Możdżonek — a former member of the Polish national volleyball team, who served as captain from 2011 to 2014. His achievements include gold medals at the 2009 European Championship and the 2014 World Championship. He retired from professional sport in 2020, has served as president of the Supreme Hunting Council since 2023, and since 2024 has been a member of the Olsztyn City Council. In June 2025, he joined the New Hope party, which is part of the Confederation alliance.
“It is a great honor and a huge responsibility for me. I have officially joined the Presidential Council for Climate and Environment. I would like to thank President Karol Nawrocki for his trust — I promise substantive work, common sense, and a commitment to ensuring that Poland’s natural environment and resources are managed wisely and safely for the benefit of all,” Możdżonek commented.
The Chancellery of the President said in a Wednesday statement that the new council’s responsibilities will include “developing policy directions in the field of environmental protection, the rational management of natural resources, and taking into account the long-term interests of the state.”
