President Nawrocki in his address: “The choice of a free nation brought me here today, despite the propaganda”

The free choice of a free nation brought me here today before you. It brought me here despite electoral propaganda, lies, political theatre, and the contempt I encountered on my way to becoming President of the Republic of Poland. I forgave, and as a Christian, I forgive from the bottom of my heart all that contempt and everything that happened during the election – said the new President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, in his address delivered before the National Assembly (ZN).

Karol Nawrocki took the oath before the National Assembly

“Assuming, by the will of the Nation, the office of President of the Republic of Poland, I solemnly swear to uphold the provisions of the Constitution, to steadfastly guard the dignity of the Nation, the independence and security of the State, and that the good of the Homeland and the well-being of its citizens shall always be my highest command” – the oath concluded with: “So help me God.”

The new head of state then delivered an address to the nation.

“The Republic of Poland is the common good of all its citizens, and supreme authority in the Republic is exercised by the Nation. Therefore, I welcome the Polish nation within the borders of the Republic and beyond. I welcome the tens of thousands of citizens of the Polish state who came to Warsaw today and whom I passed by near the Polish Sejm. I welcome all the millions of voters who elected their President of the Republic of Poland, who has just taken the oath. I thank everyone for their votes, for their support, and I also thank those who did not vote for me but took part in this democratic act of voting on the occasion of our democracy’s celebration on June 1” – said Nawrocki.

Nawrocki: “I forgive all the contempt”

The new president emphasized that “the free choice of a free nation brought me here today before you.”

“It brought me here despite electoral propaganda, lies, political theatre, and the contempt I encountered on my way to becoming President of the Republic of Poland. I forgave, and as a Christian, I forgive from the bottom of my heart all that contempt and everything that happened during the election. We, dear fellow citizens, as a national community, hold a great value in our attachment to Christian values and identity. That should not change. In Christian values, love and mercy toward others are among the fundamental elements” – he declared.

Nawrocki pointed out that “these elections and June 1 sent a strong voice of the sovereign to the entire political class.”

“By electing me as President of the Republic of Poland, it was a vote saying: this way of governing cannot continue. Poland should not look the way it does today. It was the voice of Polish men and women who want politicians to fulfill the promises made during the election campaign” – he stated.
