President Karol Nawrocki spoke out on the issue of peace plans for Ukraine. He emphasized that any solution must be accepted by Kyiv, and that Russia cannot be rewarded for its aggression.
President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki published a position on possible negotiations regarding an end to the war in Ukraine. In his statement, he highlighted several key principles that, in his view, should guide all attempts to end the conflict.
Nawrocki warned that, when formulating peace proposals, one cannot forget the history of Moscow’s violations of international agreements. “Russia is a state that does not honor its agreements,” the president stressed, referring to the Kremlin’s conduct.
A central point of his statement concerned Ukraine’s voice in the negotiations. Nawrocki made it clear that Kyiv must accept any peace plan. “It is Ukraine that has fallen victim to Putin’s criminal aggression,” he argued, adding that Ukrainians, with the support of the USA and the countries of the European Union, should have the decisive voice in the talks.
The president also appealed for a broader approach to European security. According to him, decisions regarding peace can only be made with the participation of all interested parties, which suggests the need for a fair negotiation process.
Nawrocki reserved his strongest words for a warning against rewarding the aggressor. “The price for peace cannot in any way be the aggressor’s achievement of its strategic goals,” he noted, clearly identifying the Russian Federation as the party responsible for the outbreak and continuation of the war.
US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he had given Ukraine until Thursday to agree to the American-proposed plan to end the war. The portal Axios published details of a 28-point peace plan for Ukraine, negotiated by the USA and Russia. Under this plan, Kyiv would commit, among other things, to not joining NATO, limiting its armed forces to 600,000 soldiers, and ceding part of its territory to Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he would not betray Ukraine, just as he did not betray it in February 2022.
