President of the Constitutional Tribunal Sends Message to the Gazeta Polska Clubs: United in Defense of Sovereignty and Core Values

During the 20th Jubilee Congress of the Gazeta Polska Clubs, a letter from the President of the Constitutional Tribunal, Bogdan Święczkowski, was read aloud. In his message, President Święczkowski expressed his gratitude to the members of the Clubs for their commitment to defending fundamental values and their support for state institutions in the face of unprecedented attacks. He emphasized that both the Constitutional Tribunal and the Gazeta Polska community serve as guardians of Polish sovereignty and constitutional order.

In his letter addressed to the participants of the Congress, President Święczkowski drew attention to the difficult situation the Constitutional Tribunal has faced in recent times, pointing to a coordinated campaign targeting this key institution of the rule of law. “In recent months, the Constitutional Tribunal has been the subject of numerous attacks and media manipulation. Its rulings are not being recognized, and efforts are being made to obstruct its functioning,” he wrote.

He stressed that such actions pose a direct threat to the foundations of the state. “Attempts to undermine the constitutional role of the Tribunal are undoubtedly perceived as a threat to the rule of law and represent a serious violation of the foundations of the state,” the letter reads.

Joint Defense of Values

President Święczkowski expressed his deep appreciation for the unwavering stance and ongoing support of the Gazeta Polska Clubs. He noted that both the Tribunal and the Clubs are united by their commitment to the ideal of a sovereign state and the defense of universal values that form the cornerstone of Polish identity.

“Your activity is particularly valuable to me because the Gazeta Polska Clubs are unafraid to engage with difficult topics. They defend family values, advocate for the rights of believers, and speak out for the vulnerable and elderly—those who are often pushed to the margins of society,” the President wrote. He also underscored the role of the Clubs in shaping a state grounded in justice, responsibility, and national identity, rooted in history and culture.

In an era marked by crises and the relativization of values, Święczkowski believes the stance of the Club members is of exceptional importance. “In a time of increasing relativism and the erosion of national identities, your community remains an oasis of independent thought, imbued with deep concern for our society and Homeland,” he emphasized. He added that the patriotism expressed by the members of the Clubs is not mere rhetoric but is manifested through real, tangible actions: “Patriotism is not just a slogan, but a posture expressed in deeds.”

The Tribunal as Guardian of the Constitution

The letter also reiterated the fundamental role of the Constitutional Tribunal within Poland’s legal system. It stressed that the Tribunal’s core mission is to safeguard the supremacy of the Constitution.
“The Constitutional Tribunal ensures the compliance of laws with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, and thus also protects the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens,” the message stated.

President Święczkowski highlighted that the Tribunal’s role becomes especially crucial in challenging times, when the legal order is being questioned. “Its importance is particularly evident in moments when the constitutional order is being challenged or undermined.”

In conclusion, President Bogdan Święczkowski extended his sincere thanks for the continued support and solidarity, offering his best wishes to the participants of the Congress. “With expressions of respect and my warmest wishes for health, strength, and perseverance in your ongoing service to our Homeland,” he concluded.
