Presidential Oath Ceremony in Question? MP Warns of Potential Riots

Sławomir Ćwik, a member of parliament from Poland 2050, is confident that Karol Nawrocki will take the oath of office before the National Assembly on Wednesday without any obstacles. When asked about the future relationship between the president and the government, he expressed optimism that a “common language” could be found on matters important to Poland.

On Wednesday, Karol Nawrocki will be sworn in before the National Assembly and will begin his five-year presidential term. The president will deliver his inaugural address before the assembly. Later, at Piłsudski Square, he will assume command over the armed forces. At noon, a Holy Mass will be held for the intention of the homeland and the president.

Sławomir Ćwik was asked in PAP (Polish Press Agency) Studio about Karol Nawrocki’s upcoming inauguration as president, scheduled to take place during the National Assembly on Wednesday, August 6.

“It’s good that the National Assembly will finally take place, and I assume the president-elect will be sworn in,”

he stated.

“Since June 2, there has been a great deal of confusion in society related to this. Some groups claim, for various reasons, that the election results should not be recognised. Meanwhile, another group is preparing to mobilise and is inviting people to Warsaw for the inauguration. If the swearing-in were not to take place, I would genuinely fear riots in Poland,”

Ćwik added.

He also admitted to concerns about the relationship between the current government and the incoming president. However, in his view, a “common language” will ultimately be found on issues important to Poland.
