Pressure from President Nawrocki and the right has paid off. Poland may be excluded from the migration pact

Poland – due to the enormous number of refugees accepted from Ukraine – is expected to be excluded from the relocation of migrants and financial contributions under the EU Migration Pact, according to unofficial reports from an RMF FM journalist in Brussels. As Paweł Szefernaker, head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland, emphasized, “This is one of the reasons why Karol Nawrocki’s victory was necessary. If this information is true, the decision concerns next year. Nevertheless, we must continue to fight for Poland’s withdrawal from the Migration Pact,” Szefernaker noted on the social media platform X.

Consistency and determination in politics always bring results!

The European Commission will present by Wednesday the obligations of EU member states arising from the Migration Pact. According to RMF FM’s findings, Poland should be excluded from the mechanism of “mandatory solidarity,” which includes the relocation of migrants, paying “penalties” for refusing to accept them, or providing operational support. Such an exemption is possible due to Poland’s acceptance of millions of Ukrainian war refugees. The European Commission, however, emphasizes that the Migration Pact constitutes EU law and must be implemented in all member states starting from the middle of next year.

These revelations appeared just days after Polish President Karol Nawrocki sent a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. In that letter, the head of the Polish state stated that there would be no consent for actions by EU institutions aimed at relocating illegal migrants to Poland. Karol Nawrocki also expressed hope that the European Commission president would take this fact into account in her actions.

Reports from RMF FM regarding Poland’s exclusion from the Migration Pact were commented on by right-wing politicians.

“If this is confirmed, it will mean that the pressure from our political camp, as well as the determination and actions of President Karol Nawrocki, have brought the expected results. Let’s gather today in large numbers at Castle Square in Warsaw at 2 p.m. to protest together, among other things, against illegal migration. Despite the government’s passivity, there is a chance to stop the Migration Pact!” wrote Law and Justice (PiS) MP Mariusz Błaszczak on the social media platform X.

“Consistency and determination in politics always bring results! Thanks to President Karol Nawrocki’s involvement and our public resistance, there is a chance to block the Tusk-Brussels deal on migrant relocation in Poland. Exactly as we did in 2015, when the Kopacz government, together with Tusk and Merkel, allocated 7,000 illegal migrants to us under the relocation plan,” wrote Rafał Bochenek on Facebook.

“This is one of the reasons why Karol Nawrocki’s victory was necessary. If this information is true, the decision concerns next year. Nevertheless, we must continue to fight for the termination of the Migration Pact. POLAND FIRST, POLES FIRST!” declared Paweł Szefernaker.
