Prof. Czarnek: “Karol Nawrocki is the one who maintained and developed the alliance with the USA”

“I understand that today one can be surprised by new methods of waging war. The model of armament must be quickly adjusted. We must have an American ally, and if it weren’t for Karol Nawrocki, we wouldn’t have one at all. Karol Nawrocki is the one who maintained and developed the alliance with the USA. He is the only guarantor that we can even defend ourselves against Russia, and that Russia has someone to fear,” said Prof. Przemysław Czarnek during the 11th Extraordinary Congress of Gazeta Polska Clubs, former Minister of Education and Science.

It has already become a tradition that Prof. Przemysław Czarnek, former Minister of Education and Science, participates in the Gazeta Polska Clubs Congresses. This time, the PiS politician appeared on the second day of the event organized in Sulejów, and the main topic he raised with the members was the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones, which took place on September 10.

There is reason to worry, and worrying and asking questions does not at all mean that we are a Russian agency or that we do not want unity in Poland around national defense. It is already absolutely clear that this unity must exist. President Nawrocki showed it clearly, and already at 6:30 a.m. he invited Donald Tusk to the National Security Bureau (BBN). They spoke very openly there, and that is where Article 4 of NATO was activated. Later, at a press conference, Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz spoke about this very good cooperation and joint action of both executive power centers. Tusk later said the same in the Sejm, and these are the good moments from that morning. Probably the only ones, but very good moments, because they show a shared concern for the security of the state. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be asking questions. How is it possible that a drone flies for dozens of kilometers and we don’t see it? How is it possible that Polish air defense must be informed by the Belarusian side to know that dozens of drones are entering Polish territory? What would have happened if Belarus had not informed the Polish side? These are questions about how prepared we are today to defend the Republic of Poland,” said Prof. Czarnek.

Editor Adrian Stankowski, who co-hosted the discussion with editor Tomasz Sakiewicz, pointed out that the Polish government is considering buying anti-drone systems from Germany.

They are rejoicing and saying, “We’ve got this”! Got what? A 47-billion loan to buy weapons from Germany. The Germans didn’t even apply for this loan. It’s us who are supposed to take it in order to buy something from them – and we don’t even know what. These are things that put us in a very difficult position. Once again we must thank God and all of you that Karol Nawrocki was elected and not Rafał Trzaskowski, because today we would be in a very difficult situation. I am from the Lublin region, where more of those drones fell. When we woke up, the airport was closed. On TV Republika we saw alerts on the ticker telling us not to leave our homes. The anxiety there is much greater. (…) I understand that today one can be surprised by new methods of waging war. The model of armament must be quickly adjusted. We must have an American ally, and if it weren’t for Karol Nawrocki, we wouldn’t have one at all. Karol Nawrocki is the one who maintained and developed the alliance with the USA. He is the only guarantor that we can even defend ourselves against Russia, and that Russia has someone to fear – emphasized the former Minister of Education and Science.”

He also added that communication is the most important factor in such situations.

First we hear that the airspace is closed, then that the Lublin airport is supposed to receive planes. First we hear that some styrofoam-and-cardboard junk flew into Poland. Later we hear that this junk destroyed a roof and even pierced a reinforced concrete ceiling of a house. This should be communicated to society. First we hear alerts from Republika, and then we hear that the spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA) says that the government did not issue an alert because if she herself had received such an alert, she would have thought it meant she had to pack up her children and leave the country immediately. What is this even? Where are we? This is about communication. About the truth. About informing society, because only then can we truly feel secure, when we know what is happening,” said Prof. Przemysław Czarnek.
