Prosecutors “remembered” the Andruszkiewicz investigation. “This is an attack on the President”

“After 12 years, just as Adam Andruszkiewicz becomes deputy head of the Chancellery of the President, charges suddenly appear. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Instead of going after criminals, the prosecution is going after a politician unfavorable to Tusk,” commented Paweł Szefernaker, head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, on social media. After the presidential minister revealed on TV Republika that the investigation in his case had been reopened, a flood of comments appeared on platform X.

Adam Andruszkiewicz, a Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, revealed today on TV Republika that the prosecution under Waldemar Żurek, after 12 years, has reopened the investigation into his case.

“For 12 years, an investigation has been conducted into the forgery of signatures on electoral lists, a matter repeatedly described by the media. In that investigation, it was insinuated that I had taken part. Yet for 11 years of this investigation, during which I repeatedly took part in procedural actions and was summoned by prosecutors, for example to provide handwriting samples, and even in 2025 the prosecution claimed there were no grounds whatsoever to bring charges against me. Several dozen handwriting expert opinions were issued, clearly stating that I did not participate in the forgery of signatures. A miracle happened, even after 12 years, as we can see. Suddenly, a letter came from the prosecution summoning me as a suspect in this case,” reported the politician from the Chancellery of the President.

The politician also posted a lengthy statement explaining the background of the case.

“After so many years of living under the burden of public insinuations and media pressure, the decision to summon me as a suspect is, for me, an obvious act of political revenge for my involvement and fits into a broader plan of constant attacks by the current governing arrangement on the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. At the same time, I want to clearly emphasize: as before, I remain fully at the disposal of the justice system. Perhaps naively – especially in the current circumstances of unprecedented destruction of the rule of law and persecution of the opposition – but I hope for reliable and fair proceedings that will allow all the circumstances of this case to be clarified calmly, objectively, and based on facts,” emphasized Adam Andruszkiewicz.

He added: “I believe that in this matter, the truth will ultimately prevail, not political witch-hunts and media pressure from people who want to eliminate my political community from public life. Poland needs a justice system free from pressure and prejudice – one that relies solely on evidence and the principles of the rule of law.”

“Coincidence? I don’t think so”
The information revealed by Andruszkiewicz stirred public opinion. On platform X, numerous critical comments appeared – directed at the prosecution and the current authorities.

“After 12 years, just as Adam Andruszkiewicz becomes deputy head of the Chancellery of the President, charges suddenly appear. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Instead of going after criminals, the prosecution is going after a politician unfavorable to Tusk,” noted Paweł Szefernaker, head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland.

Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, wrote: “Adam, the truth will not defend itself against Tusk’s pathological rule and his associates – people for whom lawlessness and lies are instruments of political revenge, but in this fight for truth and for its victory, not only I but also many Polish patriots will stand with you.”

“The prosecution has become a political tool whose only priority is hunting opposition politicians instead of reliably fulfilling its constitutional duties. It is a disgrace that any prosecutor decides to take part in day-to-day politics and endorse the frenzy of Donald Tusk and his circle. Sooner or later, this path will lead them to self-destruction. Poles see that instead of governing and dealing with the real problems of the state, the authorities are focused on political games and unlawful abuses,” commented Jacek Ozdoba, an MEP from Law and Justice (PiS).

The former Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki also addressed the case: “Adam Andruszkiewicz is a sincere patriot who has been engaged in Polish affairs for years. That is why Donald Tusk’s government wants to do everything to destroy him using a politicized prosecution under Waldemar Żurek. Adam, we are with you.”

Attorney Bartosz Lewandowski also does not believe this is a coincidence. “What a coincidence! Someone who holds an important position in the office of President Karol Nawrocki is suddenly – after 12 years – to hear charges…” reads his comment.

Michał Woś, former Deputy Minister of Justice, wrote: “The illegal prosecution is at it again. Tusk is using law enforcement authorities for political repression against opposition figures. Like Lukashenko. This is not only an attack on Adam, but an attempt to strike at Mr. President – Adam Andruszkiewicz is the deputy head of the Chancellery.”

A similar opinion was expressed by Sebastian Kaleta, former Deputy Minister of Justice:

“More than two years after the illegal takeover of the prosecution, they suddenly came up with the idea to attack a close associate of the President, Minister Adam Andruszkiewicz. If there were anything to it, they would not have waited two years. This is yet another proof of using the prosecution for political purposes. This action is directed against the President and an attempt to break up his excellent team.”
