Protest by Members of Election Commissions and Election Observers: “We are concerned that electoral fraud might be occurring at this very moment.”

“We do not consent to the recounting of ballots without the participation of full OKW memberships and Election Observers in randomly selected precincts. We are concerned that electoral fraud might be occurring at this very moment. We do not trust the judicial-prosecutorial teams conducting recounts without our involvement, while publicly suggesting widespread electoral fraud,” reads the statement by a group of precinct election commission members and election observers involved in the 2025 presidential election.

For several days, representatives of the Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska, KO) have been vigorously promoting a narrative that questions the outcome of the presidential elections in Poland, in which the civic candidate Karol Nawrocki defeated Rafał Trzaskowski, the candidate representing the Civic Coalition. Initially driven by the radical groups Stronger Together (Silni Razem) and Roman Giertych, this narrative has also been adopted by ministers in Donald Tusk’s government, including the Prime Minister himself.

Representatives of the Civic Coalition have demanded, among other things, a recount of votes in the presidential election, raising concerns including those related to legal grounds.

A group of precinct election commission members and election observers involved in the 2025 presidential election have presented their objection regarding the current actions taken by the Prime Minister, some ministers, and politicians of the Civic Coalition.

Objection by Members of the Precinct Election Commissions (OKW) and Election Observers (Mężowie Zaufania) regarding the Presidential Election in Poland held on May 18 and on June 1, 2025

As members of Precinct Election Commissions (OKW) from across Poland, as well as Election Observers appointed to perform duties as state officials during the Presidential Election, we categorically object to the ongoing actions aimed at undermining the election results of June 1, 2025.

We do not consent to the recounting of ballots without the participation of full OKW memberships and Election Observers in randomly selected precincts. We are concerned that electoral fraud might be occurring at this very moment. We do not trust the judicial-prosecutorial teams conducting recounts without our involvement, while publicly suggesting widespread electoral fraud. We oppose the defamation of the commission members and Election Observers who honestly and diligently carried out their public duties during the elections held on May 18 and June 1, 2025.

These actions undermine the entire democratic electoral process and erode public trust in state institutions.

Sulejów, June 22, 2025

Among the signatories of the protest are Adam Borowski, Beata Dróżdż, Violetta Mackiewicz-Sasiak, Barbara Niedzielska, Dariusz Miko, Marta Święcicka, Jan Stańczyk, Ryszard Majdzik, Jerzy Sawiński, Ewa Wypych, and Joanna Werstler-Wojtaszek.
