The Independence March took place in Warsaw. The organizers estimated attendance at 300,000, and among the participants was the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki. Participants faced numerous obstacles, yet they still came in great numbers. And as always, it was peaceful and patriotic.
On Independence Day in Warsaw, a drone flight ban was in force. According to the regulation issued by the Minister of the Interior and Administration, a citywide ban was imposed on carrying or transporting any kind of weapon, even when unloaded. Meanwhile, the Masovian Voivode introduced a ban on the possession and use of pyrotechnic products. Additionally, renovation works at the Warsaw Central railway station were conveniently scheduled for that very day. And still, crowds arrived!
In TV Republika, Danuta Holecka asked MP Witold Tumanowicz (Confederation) about various actions targeting participants of the Independence March.
“I’ve heard about all sorts of searches. The entire ban is nothing but harassment aimed at the Independence March. It’s a beautiful sight! We celebrate Independence Day, when a sea of flares lights up the crowd during the anthem – and that’s the kind of image that irritates those currently in power. They don’t like patriotism or celebration; it sticks in their throats,” said MP Tumanowicz on TV Republika.
“They tried to ban it, but not a chance!” he added, noting that throughout all the years of this event, he does not recall anyone ever being harmed by a flare during the Independence March.
