State Forests provides record support for districts with simplified forest management plans, boosting forest conservation efforts.
State Forests (Lasy Państwowe) have accepted all 50 applications from districts for funding simplified forest management plans (UPUL) in 2025. This year’s call for applications, which ended on September 30, saw the highest number of applications ever, covering 130,000 hectares of private forest land. The funding from the state forest fund totals approximately 4.5 million PLN, easing the financial burden on local authorities.
Simplified Forest Management Plans (UPUL)
The UPUL is a streamlined plan for forests of at least 10 hectares, including basic forestry tasks. It applies to non-state forests owned by individuals and community landowners. The plans are a prerequisite for calculating the forestry tax and require public review and approval.
Enhanced Support for Private Landowners
State Forests also provide free consultancy, fire protection, and pest control for private landowners. Furthermore, they support the Bank of Forest Data (BDL), a platform collecting comprehensive data on all forests, helping to monitor forest management across different ownerships.
