Ricochets during military exercises in Bemowo Piskie damaged a building. No injuries reported; Military Police investigate.
During the night at the Bemowo Piskie shooting range near Orzysz, ricochets from gunfire exercises caused damage to a nearby building. The exercises involved Romanian soldiers participating in allied training. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, as confirmed by the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces in a statement released Friday morning on the X platform.
Ongoing Investigation
The incident is currently under investigation by the Military Police. The General Command assured that all damages will be compensated as quickly as possible. Bemowo Piskie, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, is home to the Land Forces Training Center Orzysz, which oversees military exercises on the nearby Orzysz training ground.
NATO Presence in Poland
Bemowo Piskie also hosts a NATO Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battlegroup. The group is led by the United States and includes soldiers from the UK, Croatia, and air defense units from Romania. On a daily basis, this battlegroup collaborates closely with the 15th Mechanized Brigade from Giżycko.
