    Rising Food Prices Hit Polish Consumers: Fruits and Vegetables Surge by Up to 60%

    Poles are feeling the pinch of rising food prices, with fruits and vegetables seeing sharp increases. According to a recent analysis by the PanParagon app, some produce prices have surged by as much as 60% over the past two years.

    The report, covering median prices from January to December in 2022, 2023, and 2024, revealed that seven key items have significantly increased in cost. Leading the price surge are light grapes, which have risen by 60.1%, from 5.99 zł/kg in September 2022 to 9.59 zł/kg today.

    Ginger has also seen a dramatic price hike of 60%, now costing 23.44 zł/kg compared to 14.99 zł/kg in 2022. Plums are the third hardest hit, with prices jumping by 40.1%, now priced at 6.99 zł/kg, up from 4.99 zł/kg two years ago.

    Other items like peaches (up 37.6%), cauliflower (33.5%), raspberries (26.6%), and pears (16.7%) have also seen increases. Meanwhile, figs and yellow onions have bucked the trend, with prices dropping by 20.1% and 37.6%, respectively. The cost of hokkaido pumpkin and zucchini has remained stable over the same period.
