The leader of the Border Defense Movement (ROG), Robert Bąkiewicz, in a statement to the media emphasized that the decision to reinstate border controls until April 2026 is the result of civic action and pressure exerted by patriots from ROG. As he pointed out, this is only the beginning of the fight for a safe Poland.
Citizens Forced Tusk to Act
Commenting on the government’s decision to extend border controls until 2026, Bąkiewicz stressed that this was not Donald Tusk’s choice but the result of social pressure from the Border Defense Movement:
“Border controls will be reinstated until April 2026. As the Border Defense Movement, we would like to thank all those whose activity and sacrifice led to Donald Tusk being forced to protect Poland’s borders,” said Robert Bąkiewicz.
According to the ROG leader, the current success does not end the movement’s activities but is merely the beginning of further resistance to the European Union’s migration policy:
“The Border Defense Movement is victorious today. This is not a march that has ended. This is only the beginning. We will defend Poland against mass migration and against the migration pact. Neither Donald Tusk, nor Germany, nor the Brussels-Berlin elites will stop us,” he underlined.
Bąkiewicz particularly appreciated the involvement of local activists, volunteers, and supporters who backed the initiatives at the border:
“We thank all those who supported us financially, who brought food, and even the Germans who also showed us support. We thank the Border Guard, the Police, and the Polish Army, who today protect Poland’s borders,” he noted.
As he emphasized, without the presence of independent media like TV Republika, ROG’s success would not have been possible:
“Without TV Republika, this success would not have happened. Thanks to you, we managed to spread the word about the protest and the threats connected with mass migration,” he said.
Bąkiewicz referred to the prosecutor’s office’s actions against him, pointing out that the preventive measures imposed are an example of political repression by the current authorities:
“This shows the parody of actions by a politicized prosecutor’s office. I can be in Germany, but I cannot appear within a kilometer of the border crossing. This is an example of the methods used by Donald Tusk’s government and its state apparatus,” he stressed.
The ROG leader assessed that the movement’s actions are not only a success on the scale of Poland but also of all Europe:
“This is a European-scale victory. We, as Poles, ordinary citizens, have managed to show that when organized, we are capable of winning. We thank Mr. Tusk and Mr. Kierwiński for restoring border control in line with our demands,” he declared.
In conclusion, Bąkiewicz announced the building of even stronger civic structures that will fight against the migration pact:
“We must build a gigantic movement that will stop the migration pact and the ideological actions tied to mass migration. We, the Border Defense Movement, have taken up national leadership and shown Poles the direction of action,” summed up Robert Bąkiewicz.
