In a sensational performance at Japan’s Fuji International Superspeedway, Robert Kubica led Team WRT to a resounding victory in the World Endurance Championship’s (WEC) LMP2 category. This win cements their dominant position in the championship standings.

Despite a rocky start with Rui Andrade slipping to sixth place, Kubica and teammate Louis Deletraz rallied. Kubica, in the final hours, showcased his masterful driving skills, maintaining an almost 20-second lead over their competitors.

    Inter Europol’s Setback

In contrast, the Polish outfit Inter Europol Competition, featuring Kuba Śmiechowski, faced disappointment, finishing ninth and effectively ending their championship aspirations. In the premier Hypercar class, Kubica and Team WRT initially battled Porsche for the lead, adding another layer to Kubica’s exceptional performance.

As the WEC transitions exclusively to Hypercars from 2024, with LMP2 cars solely competing in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, Kubica’s success at Fuji becomes even more significant. The WEC season will culminate with an eight-hour race in Bahrain on November 4th, where Robert Kubica and Team WRT aim to secure the LMP2 championship title.
