Robert Kubica Triumphs at Circuit of the Americas

Robert Kubica and AF Corse win the WEC race in Austin, joining F1 and WEC victors Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber.

Robert Kubica, driving for the AF Corse team, secured a victory in the Hypercar class at the 6-hour World Endurance Championship (WEC) race in Austin, Texas. Kubica, along with teammates Robert Shwartzman and Yifei Ye, drove the Ferrari 499P to a narrow win over Toyota by 1.8 seconds. Kubica’s success places him alongside Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber as the only drivers to win in both Formula 1 and WEC.

Kubica’s Key Role and Strategic Excellence

Kubica started the race strongly, taking the lead after two hours. His teammates, Ye and Shwartzman, maintained their lead, with Shwartzman fending off intense competition from Toyota. The team’s win was aided by a penalty for Toyota’s Kamui Kobayashi, who was sanctioned for ignoring yellow flags.

Looking Ahead in the WEC Season

The WEC season continues in two weeks at Fuji, Japan, with the final race scheduled for November 2 in Bahrain. WEC cars run on Excellium Racing 100 fuel, made entirely from biomass from French vineyards.
