Roman Giertych calls for… the closure of the border with Germany. So there was illegal trafficking after all?!

As the scandal involving the illegal transfer of migrants from Germany to Poland grew to such proportions that no one could plausibly ignore it any longer, Roman Giertych, previously occupied with post-election vote recounts and submitting electoral protests, finally came to attention. Late Sunday night into Monday morning, he decided to speak out on X. However, it seems he didn’t quite think through what he was about to write…

Roman Giertych, a member of the Civic Coalition and, recently, of the Civic Platform (PO), who launched a campaign of flooding the Supreme Court with electoral protests after the recent presidential elections, apparently could no longer pretend that the vote recount initiative hadn’t turned into a complete failure. In the late hours of Sunday night, he decided to weigh in on a matter that has been stirring public opinion for days: the illegal transfer of migrants from Germany into Poland.

“The militias must be removed from the border, but the border should also be closed until Germany stops sending migrants back to us. It’s true that they arrived via Poland, taking advantage of PiS corruption, but they were lured by German social benefits — and that’s not our responsibility. As for the militants, let them join the Border Guard,” Giertych commented.

In doing so, he indirectly admitted that Donald Tusk’s government had misled the Polish public regarding the return of unwanted migrants to Poland.

Meanwhile, on Friday, June 27, Interior Ministry spokesman Jacek Dobrzyński denied the practice, which had been observed and documented by the civic Border Defense Movement as well as residents of border towns.

“The claim that Germany is transferring migrants to Poland is false. Anyone spreading this claim is deliberately sowing disinformation,” Dobrzyński stated on X.

Donald Tusk and members of his government maintain that Poland does not have a problem with illegal migrants being turned back at the German-Polish border.

“Uniformed services operate by the book, and orders are documented at every level. Members of parliament can verify this — we have nothing to hide,” said Tomasz Siemoniak, head of the Interior Ministry, still on Sunday.

The only question remaining is: why then is there a likely decision to reinstate border checks on the Polish side of the western border — if, allegedly, there is no problem?
