Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, announced today that flights at Kazan Airport were temporarily suspended following a drone attack on the city. The announcement was made via Reuters, citing damage caused by Ukrainian drones.
Residential Complexes Targeted
According to Russian news agencies, the attack struck a residential complex in Kazan, a city located about 800 km east of Moscow. Reports indicate eight drone attacks, with six specifically targeting residential buildings. Videos circulating on Telegram show a drone striking a high-rise building, resulting in a fire.
Authorities have not released information regarding casualties. However, visuals suggest significant structural damage. Local officials are continuing their assessment of the situation while emergency services work at the affected sites.
In response to the incident, Rosaviatsia imposed temporary flight restrictions not only in Kazan but also at the Izhevsk airport, a smaller hub northeast of Kazan. These measures aim to ensure safety amid ongoing drone threats.
