Russians Attacked with Phosphorus Bombs: “They Tried to Set the City on Fire”

The 28th Ukrainian Mechanized Brigade reported that Russian forces attacked a residential neighborhood in Kostiantynivka (Donetsk Oblast). The Russians used deadly phosphorus bombs. Around 2,000 civilians remain in the city.

Kostiantynivka is one of the most important points on the Ukrainian-Russian front line. Russian forces have long been trying to capture the city in order to open the way to other key locations in the Donbas.

Deadly Phosphorus and a 1.5-Ton Bomb

The 28th Mechanized Brigade announced on X that Russian forces attacked a residential area using phosphorus. A 1.5-ton FAB-1500 bomb was then dropped there. Approximately 2,000 civilians remain in the city. They are also being hunted by Russian FPV drones. Footage released online shows, among other things, the body of a man who was killed during the Russian bombardment.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported the disgraceful attack, calling the use of such bombs a war crime. The incident was recorded by officers of the Ukrainian Border Guard’s Phoenix unit. As stated, the Russians dropped banned munitions in an attempt to set the city ablaze.

This type of munition is filled with white phosphorus. When it comes into contact with oxygen, it ignites. Its combustion temperature reaches approximately 1,300 degrees Celsius. As a result, it sets fire to and destroys everything around it, and people nearby die in agony. Its use in civilian areas is prohibited and recognized as a war crime.
