Sakiewicz: President Karol Nawrocki Now Shapes Poland’s Foreign Policy

Editor-in-chief and president of TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz, commented on air about the meeting between President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He pointed to Nawrocki’s strong position on the international stage and, at the same time, to the humiliation of Tusk, who was excluded from summit talks on Ukraine.

Tusk has no cards in his hand

Tomasz Sakiewicz emphasized that Donald Tusk clearly has a problem with his political standing, which has been weakening since the presidential elections:

“Assuming that Prime Minister Donald Tusk is not in some terminal phase of his psyche, because such a post obviously does not speak well of his condition, what he wanted to say was that on all other matters, he was not in agreement. That is how one should read that tweet. And that means it was a very difficult conversation for Prime Minister Tusk as well,”

he stated, referring to Tusk’s comment after the meeting.

The editor-in-chief of TV Republika noted that the Prime Minister had previously avoided contact with the President:

“Prime Minister Tusk had no intention of meeting with President Karol Nawrocki. He snubbed him, did not congratulate him. And then he ran into a wall. After the American diplomacy said: We do not want this gentleman. They did not want him to participate even as a backdrop to that conversation. What a humiliation for Tusk,”

he pointed out.

Sakiewicz also drew attention to the international consequences of the entire situation and the diplomatic initiative of TV Republika:

“Today, the architect and executor of Polish foreign policy is President Karol Nawrocki. Since there is no Polish ambassador, nobody invites these people, nobody lets them into serious venues, and nobody talks to them. We have to organize all this diplomacy, the entire framework that builds Polish-American relations, and take responsibility for it under the leadership of the President, because the government has destroyed everything it could,”

he said.

Donald Tusk, he continued, now bears responsibility for exceptionally offensive remarks directed at the President of the United States:

“How can one call the President of the USA a Russian spy, take aim at him and post a picture implying you want to shoot him, have a foreign minister whose wife compares the US President to Hitler and Stalin and says he is mentally ill? I did not expect anyone would want to speak to him. The fact that they are treated as not serious is Donald Tusk’s problem. But it is also Poland’s problem,”

he stressed.
