Sakiewicz reveals further details of the harassment. “Our journalists were being woken up at night”

Tomasz Sakiewicz revealed new information concerning the wave of false alarms and actions targeting journalists of TV Republika. Speaking on air, the station’s president described the nighttime harassment of the media outlet’s employees, repeated false deliveries sent to their addresses, and the use of the telephone number of Sławomir Mentzen’s law office. “There is an absolute substantive connection between the false alarms and these harassing emails,” said Sakiewicz.

TV Republika and its journalists have for several days been the target of a series of false alarms and interventions by the services. Police officers appeared, among other places, at the home of the station’s president Tomasz Sakiewicz. Police previously announced the detention of a 53-year-old man in connection with the matter, however — as representatives of the station report — actions against journalists are still continuing.

Tomasz Sakiewicz addressed the matter on the air of TV Republika, speaking about additional forms of harassment directed at the station’s employees.

“We have spoken little about this aspect, but apart from the services coming to our apartments, we also experienced nighttime harassment. That is, during the night, the homes of the same journalists whom the police attacked during the day were called with so-called deliveries,” he said.

As the head of Republika recounted, the deliveries took place very late at night.

“At two or three in the morning, our journalists were being woken up, apparently with the intention of mentally exhausting them. For example, four deliveries of something nobody had ordered,” Sakiewicz said.

According to his account, it was possible to establish the telephone number used when placing the orders.

“We identified the phone number from which the orders were supposedly made. The phone belongs to Mentzen’s law office. Of course, nobody from Mentzen’s office ordered anything, but such a number was provided, which has the character of a provocation,” he stated.

Sakiewicz also spoke about the data of the person who allegedly appeared as the ordering party.

“The surname of the person placing the order — so that there are no longer any doubts as to what we are dealing with — is the surname of one of the potential suicide victims,” he said.

The head of Republika assessed that there is a connection between the false alarms and other actions directed against the station’s journalists. “There is an absolute substantive connection between the false alarms and these harassing emails,” he said.

He also referred to the impact of the entire situation on the people targeted by the actions.

“If someone receives several deliveries in the middle of the night and is woken up after morning or evening police visits, what is that person’s psychological state, how can they perceive it?” Sakiewicz asked.

In his opinion, the actions are organized in nature.

“This is a coordinated operation carried out by many people. And talking about it being one individual is simply completely unserious,” he said on the air of TV Republika.

Sławomir Mentzen, an MP from Confederation Liberty and Independence, also commented on the matter. The politician had earlier informed that the telephone number of his law office had been used to place the nighttime orders.

“I have just learned that the perpetrators are using the telephone number of Kancelaria Mentzen to harass Republika journalists,” the politician wrote on social media.
