After Maciej Awiżeń was dismissed from his post as voivode in November 2024, he was also removed at the end of March 2026 from his position as president of the Polish Health Resorts Group, reports klodzko24.eu. “This is how politicians and big politics destroyed a good local government official,” the outlet comments.
According to klodzko24.eu, “officially, the reasons for his dismissal are not known (the PGU company only confirms Awiżeń’s dismissal but does not comment on the decision), but in Kłodzko it is said that he was politically sacrificed after the high-profile conviction of the wife of a pedophile and zoophile from Kłodzko, who at the time of these acts was a member of Civic Platform (PO),”.
Another reason may be – as raised by local activists of Civic Platform (PO) – irregularities related to the issuing of visas to foreigners at the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office, when Maciej Awiżeń served as voivode.
The local outlet asks directly: “Could it be that once again – as after the 2024 flood – politicians of Civic Platform (PO), those from Warsaw, sacrificed Awiżeń to save themselves? And thus a good local government official was destroyed by pushing him into the position of voivode.”
