An obscene act took place on Saturday inside St. Peter’s Basilica; the perpetrator was immediately detained by security, Vatican sources reported. As clarified, Pope Leo XIV was informed about the incident.
According to eyewitness accounts, the man approached the main Altar of the Confession inside the basilica, where he began to undress and then urinated on the altar.
Vatican gendarmes and on-site staff detained the perpetrator, who—according to reports—showed clear signs of mental instability.
