Following the recent remarks made by Russian war criminal Vladimir Putin, a “red flag” should be raised in many countries. His statements serve as a serious warning signal.
An economic forum is currently taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia, with Russian President Vladimir Putin among the attendees. Once again, he made dismissive and provocative comments about Ukraine. He asserted that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people,” and went on to claim that “all of Ukraine belongs to Russia.”
However, Putin made yet another statement—one that should raise serious concerns.
When asked about Moscow’s goal in its war against Ukraine, Putin stated that there is a Russian saying: “Wherever the foot of a Russian soldier steps, that land is ours.” This reveals his blatant disregard for the sovereignty of other nations—and may indicate that he has no intention of halting his aggression at Ukraine’s borders.
This was not Putin’s only comment during the St. Petersburg forum. “I am ready to talk with anyone about Ukraine—even with Volodymyr Zelensky,” he said earlier. He noted that he would be willing to meet with the Ukrainian president during the final phase of ceasefire negotiations. The Russian leader also claimed to be open to talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, though he expressed doubts about Germany’s ability to act as a mediator in discussions with Ukraine.
