The current use of the apartment issue to attack Karol Nawrocki demonstrates that the special services have been engaged in a dirty campaign — stated Emilia Wierzbicki, spokesperson for the civic presidential candidate’s campaign team, on social media. She was responding to a report by Onet, which accused the President of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) of lying about the number of apartments he owns. According to Wierzbicki, a group of individuals is working on leaks originating from the security services.
Last Wednesday, Onet published an article accusing Nawrocki of lying about the number of apartments he owns. The IPN President allegedly claimed to own only one apartment, while Onet‘s “news” was that he owned another residential unit.
Emilia Wierzbicki, spokesperson for the civic candidate’s campaign, addressed these “revelations.” In a statement posted on social media, she emphasized that “all information regarding the properties owned by Dr Karol Nawrocki has been disclosed in his financial declarations for years.” She added:
“All this information was also submitted to the services responsible for issuing security clearance, and they consistently resulted in him being granted the highest levels of security classification.”
The matter was also commented on by Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, who noted that the information made public by Onet came from the so-called “PPS file” — a personnel security procedure. According to him, the story constituted a leak from the special services to the media.
On Sunday, the issue resurfaced due to an upcoming Onet publication (expected on Monday, May 5) and a subsequent statement from Wierzbicki.
“The current use of the apartment issue to attack Karol Nawrocki demonstrates that the special services have been engaged in a dirty campaign,” wrote Nawrocki’s campaign spokesperson.
“We have received information that a group of individuals is working to deliver information from Karol Nawrocki’s personal security questionnaire to the media. Given that Karol Nawrocki has always received security clearances and that the information in his questionnaire has never raised any concerns with the services, it is now being overinterpreted, exaggerated, and presented in a false, negative light,”
she reported.
She also explained how Nawrocki came into possession of the apartment in question.
“Mr Jerzy is Karol Nawrocki’s neighbour. As a community activist, Karol Nawrocki helped Mr. Jerzy, a disabled and solitary individual, for many years. Karol Nawrocki provided Mr. Jerzy with the funds to purchase the apartment, which Mr. Jerzy promised to transfer to Nawrocki in return for his assistance,” she wrote, emphasizing:
“It is worth noting that Karol Nawrocki has never lived in this apartment, never rented it out, and has never derived any financial benefit from it. He continues to pay the housing costs to this day. Mr. Jerzy remains the occupant of the apartment.”

It is worth noting that Karol Nawrocki has never lived in this apartment, never rented it out, and has never derived any financial benefit from it. He continues to pay the housing costs to this day. Mr. Jerzy remains the occupant of the apartment.
Contact with Mr. Jerzy ceased in December 2024. As he does every year, Karol Nawrocki went to visit Mr. Jerzy during the Christmas season. The man did not answer the door, and there has been no contact with him since. Karol Nawrocki tried to locate him through neighbours and acquaintances but to no avail.
Karol Nawrocki has always declared ownership of this apartment in his financial disclosures.”
