“The investigators have taken up my complaint regarding the use of secret ABW (Internal Security Agency) documents about Karol Nawrocki by regime media during the election campaign. Their illegal media leak failed, and now they will have to answer for it,” wrote PiS MP Marcin Warchoł on social media. The matter concerns media publications and a photo of a bank document confirming a cash payment of PLN 12,000 made by Karol Nawrocki, published in May by KO politician Krzysztof Brejza. The document was part of the verification proceedings concerning Karol Nawrocki.
At the tail end of this year’s election campaign, Onet published an article stating that Karol Nawrocki, a presidential candidate, owns two apartments and also suggested that he acquired a 28-square-meter studio under unclear circumstances. The president of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) gave a detailed account of his relationship with Jerzy Ż., from whom he purchased the apartment, and the candidate’s campaign team presented Ż.’s will as well as the notarial deed.
KO politician Krzysztof Brejza then published a photo of a bank document confirming that Nawrocki had made a cash deposit of PLN 12,000. The description on the document indicated that the payment was for the purchase of the apartment.
Meanwhile, Stanisław Żaryn pointed out that the document published by Brejza “is part of the verification case file concerning Karol Nawrocki, and releasing such materials is a breach of the law; handing them over for use in a political attack during an election campaign is a very serious scandal.”
Several months after these events, it has now come to light that the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office has finally taken up the matter. This was shared on social media by PiS MP Marcin Warchoł, who emphasised that apparently “prosecutors are no longer willing to tolerate lawlessness.”
“Waldemar Żurek had barely taken office as minister, and already, investigators have taken up my complaint about the regime media’s use of secret ABW documents on Karol Nawrocki during the campaign. Their illegal media leak didn’t work, now they will have to explain themselves,”
the statement reads.
