Can TVP Wrocław journalists ask Civic Coalition politicians about the zoophile-paedophile scandal? Among other things, this is the direct question a group of editors put to the station’s management. The worsening atmosphere is a consequence of the blocked broadcast of a critical report about Jacek Sutryk.
President Sutryk is one of the 29 people charged in the first completed strand of the scandal involving the private university Collegium Humanum. In November 2024, the Katowice branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against him. The indictment describes four criminal offences.
The journalistic report on the Mayor of Wrocław was prepared by Robert Jałocha, who, until recently, collaborated with TVP Wrocław’s news programmes.
“In February, he obtained court permission to access the indictment in the Collegium Humanum scandal case,”
the Wrocław edition of Gazeta Wyborcza specifies.
According to the article, TVP management blocked the broadcast of the material. The decision has effectively paralysed the work of the newsroom. Marcin Torz published on social media the content of emails sent by local editors to TVP Wrocław’s management.
In the leaked email, the journalists voice concerns about the further functioning of the newsroom. They ask outright whether they are allowed to question Civic Coalition politicians about the zoophile-paedophile scandal and what they should reply to staff members who are demanding the material about Sutryk.
“Self-censorship disables our fundamental duty, which is to keep an eye on politicians,”
the editors emphasise.
