“I want to tell you that Polish soldiers and officers are sacred. The nation stands with you, and we thank you for being there,” said Karol Nawrocki at Marshal Piłsudski Square, referring to the insults against the uniform made by self-proclaimed celebrities.
A few days ago, a court acquitted Władysław Frasyniuk, who, during the crisis on the border with Belarus, insulted Polish soldiers and officers of the Border Guard (SG). The scandalous remarks were made on the TVN24 channel. “I look with concern at this arrogance, rudeness, and vulgarity. Frankly speaking, the word ‘soldier’ is degrading to all those who served on missions abroad. I have the impression that this is a pack of dogs surrounding poor, weak people. This is not how soldiers behave. You’re just trash! These are not human behaviors. This is anti-Polish conduct – these soldiers do not serve the Polish state. On the contrary, they spit on all the values their parents or grandparents probably fought for,” said Frasyniuk. In the first instance, he was fined, but the higher court acquitted him of all charges.
Barbara Kurdej-Szatan also spoke in a similar tone about those guarding the Polish-Belarusian border.
President Karol Nawrocki addressed these disgraceful attitudes during his speech on the occasion of the National Independence Day.
“I want to tell you that even if some celebrities insult the Polish uniform, using words that should never be spoken in the public sphere, especially about Polish soldiers; even if a Polish court is unable to react to this in line with the Polish raison d’état, then I, as the President of Poland, on behalf of the nation that stands here – are you here, my Nation? – want to tell you that Polish soldiers and officers are sacred. The nation stands with you, and we thank you for being there,” he said.
