What does it mean that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) informs some people in odd places, the media finds out about it, that he wanted to participate in such a meeting? – asked Michał Rachoń, program director of TV Republika.
On September 3, a meeting will take place at the White House between the presidents of Poland and the USA – Karol Nawrocki and Donald Trump. As Michał Rachoń reported in his program on TV Republika, there have been reports that the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ), Radosław Sikorski, also wanted to take part in the meeting.
“There is a media leak suggesting that Radosław Sikorski expressed his desire to take part in the meeting at the Oval Office. We have also heard it here in the USA, in Washington, that he made such a request. I must say, this is surprising. What does it mean that the MSZ informs some people in odd places, the media finds out about it, that he wanted to participate in such a meeting,” Rachoń said today.
“I don’t understand this approach by the head of the MSZ. Starting with this government’s position, which was forwarded in an open manner to the president, this 1.5-page position includes bizarre statements that Poland should not tell the Americans that we plan to introduce regulations concerning social media censorship. Apparently, Tusk’s government does have such plans. They released it in an open mode, so everyone knows about it. Complete amateurism,” commented Paweł Jabłoński, deputy foreign minister.
“Why does Sikorski allow his ministry to function this way? I think it shows that Sikorski is focused on his image, and he doesn’t really want to do actual work. That’s why we see such outcomes – he is unable to achieve anything real, but he says: “I would like to be here, I would like to be there, everyone likes me so much that they should invite me.” The reality is unfortunately different. Poland loses from having someone like this at the head of the MSZ. Sikorski and seriousness are contradictory,” he added.
Sikorski wants to bump into Rubio
Radosław Sikorski will be in the USA today, specifically in Miami, Florida.
Sikorski will take part in the ceremony of awarding the Solidarity Award to a representative of the Cuban opposition – the MSZ informed, without even disclosing the name of the laureate. Also present in Florida will be the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
“Now the head of the MSZ is flying specifically to an event, to a conference related to the Cuban opposition, because he knows that maybe Marco Rubio will be there and maybe he will be able to grab him by the sleeve just to have a short talk. Pathetic,” said former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
“This event in Miami, organized by the Polish side, is being held on the 45th anniversary of the founding of Solidarity, and Marco Rubio will honor it with his presence,” said the MSZ spokesperson, Paweł Wroński, during a press briefing.
MSZ will not be in Washington
Deputy Foreign Minister Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef announced that during President Karol Nawrocki’s visit to the USA, there will be no representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We simply did not receive an invitation – she emphasized. She added that the MSZ remains open to cooperation and hopes that the president will make use of it.
The Head of the Presidential Office, Zbigniew Bogucki, underlined that President Karol Nawrocki did not plan for a representative of the MSZ to be part of the delegation to Washington. He also stated that the government does not conduct international policy with the United States, as it has no relations with that country.
