On May 20 at 12:00, Solidarity is announcing a major protest in Warsaw. “We invite everyone to support the President’s motion regarding the call for a referendum on the Green Deal and to clearly send a signal to senators that they have no other option but to give the President consent for this referendum,” said Piotr Duda, leader of the NSZZ Solidarity trade union.
Solidarity can no longer wait and does not want to wait. Therefore, in December 2025, NSZZ, as the National Commission, transformed itself into a protest committee. We launched a major information campaign across the country. In addition, there were protests in the regions where we signaled that we were preparing for a large-scale protest action. On February 28, here in the BHP Hall, a meeting of the “Platform of the Outraged bis” took place. (…) We had many participants, dozens of trade unions, associations, foundations, and one issue stood out – the fight against the Green Deal. Today, the situation affecting us – collective redundancies in workplaces and the physical liquidation of companies, corporations moving their businesses outside EU countries – is caused by the EU’s climate policy, the so-called predatory Green Deal – said the chairman of Solidarity, Piotr Duda, during a meeting with journalists.
He reminded that a year ago, together with the candidate for President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, they signed a program agreement which assumed that, as president, he would submit a motion to the Senate to hold a referendum on the Green Deal.
“From the information I have, the Presidential Chancellery (KPRP) is preparing to submit a motion to the Senate for the president to call a referendum on the Green Deal. Solidarity is not waiting, which is why we invite everyone on May 20, Wednesday, to Warsaw. At noon we will meet at Castle Square to support the President’s motion for a referendum and to clearly send a signal to senators that they have no other option but to give the President consent for this referendum,” announced Piotr Duda.
He added that he invites everyone – all trade unions, all associations, all those who feel harmed by the current government – to gather on May 20 at 12:00 at Castle Square under the banners of Solidarity, this human solidarity.
“Mr. Tusk, you should already be afraid,” he said.
