State of Natural Disaster Extended in Flooded Regions of Poland

In response to severe flooding, the Polish government has expanded the state of natural disaster to additional areas in Lower Silesia and Lubusz. The regions newly covered by the declaration include Wołów county, the city and rural municipalities of Głogów, as well as several others in Lower Silesia. In Lubusz, the declaration now covers areas like Dąbie, Krosno Odrzańskie, and the Nowa Sól region.

    Further Expansions

This decision follows earlier declarations from September 16, which initially focused on counties in Lower Silesia, Opole, and Silesia. Over the following days, the government continued to add areas to the list, including new counties and municipalities across these regions. Each expansion aimed to address the increasing scope of the flood’s damage.

The disaster declaration is designed to mitigate the immediate effects of the flooding and facilitate recovery efforts. It provides the legal framework to deploy emergency resources and support to residents, businesses, and local authorities. The current declaration will remain in effect for 30 days, starting from its official announcement.

This swift response aims to bring vital relief and enable faster recovery from the September flood disaster.
