“If this leaflet is found, please inform us at which place, to the address given below” – read the leaflets, written in broken Polish, that could be found today in the Lubusz Voivodeship. The local voivode’s office reassures residents: they pose no threat, they were dropped by the German Bundeswehr as part of an exercise.
“As part of the exercise, leaflets in Polish and German were dropped from a helium-filled balloon. Due to windy weather, some of them may have drifted into Polish territory – including the Lubusz region,” stated the official announcement published on the voivode’s website.
If Poland was not the intended target, one must ask why the content of the leaflets was written in Polish. Or rather, why someone tried to write it in our language, because the number of spelling and grammatical mistakes is overwhelming.
The photo of the leaflet that was published shows a blue triangle and text clearly indicating its sender. For reference, here is the full text:
*”Trial leaflet of the Bundeswehr which was distributed by an unmanned balloon filled with helium gas. With its help Bundeswehr practices to reach inhabitants in hard-to-access areas.
If this leaflet is found, please inform us at which place to the address given below. Please also inform us what symbol is on the leaflet to make it easier for us to analyze our work.
For the sake of environmental protection, please throw the leaflet into the nearest trash can. Thank you for your cooperation! Bundeswehr.”*
Below, an address in the town of Mayen was given.
What should be done with such an unusual delivery?
What to do if you find such a leaflet? Stay calm, read its content, and if you wish, send information about the place where it was found to the e-mail address provided on the leaflet – advises the Lubusz Voivodeship Office.
