Strong words from President Nawrocki about Czarzasty: “There must be a clear and unequivocal verification”

During the public part of the National Security Council meeting, President Karol Nawrocki referred to doubts concerning Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty. “There must be a clear and unequivocal verification,” the president said.

On Wednesday after 2 p.m., a meeting of the National Security Council convened by President Karol Nawrocki began. The session, attended by ministers and leaders of parliamentary groups, concerned, among other things, the dangerous contacts of Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty, revealed by Gazeta Polska.

“This issue concerns the standards of state security and how state services should respond to information about possible eastern social and business contacts of the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland,” the president pointed out.

Nawrocki added that during a war on the eastern border and intensified hybrid actions, any information raising doubts about people holding the highest offices must be reliably clarified for Poland’s security.

“The state has a duty to act preventively,” the president emphasized.

Nawrocki on Czarzasty: Words are not enough in such a matter

Nawrocki recalled the case of Russian agent Paweł Rubcow and added that it should serve as a warning to everyone. He reminded that if the head of state were unable to perform their duties, those duties would be taken over by the Marshal of the Sejm.

“The Marshal of the Sejm is not merely a political function. It is a constitutional function, embedded in the continuity of the state,” President Nawrocki said.

“The Marshal of the Sejm is one heartbeat away from the presidency. If God decided to recall the President of the Republic of Poland today, tomorrow the duties of president would be performed by Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty. This is a matter of national security – in such matters, words are not enough. There must be a clear and unequivocal verification,” the president said.

Nawrocki added that he himself had undergone vetting many times, under different governments and prime ministers, and had been granted access to classified information.

“In a serious state, doubts about a person standing so high in the constitutional hierarchy as the Marshal of the Sejm are not left in the realm of speculation,” President Nawrocki said.

“For heaven’s sake, we have the right to know whether the marshal has access to top secret information (…) And if not, he should not be Marshal of the Sejm,” he stressed.
