Students Were Supposed to Send Christmas Cards to… Tusk. The Text Was Already Printed

Children from schools in Łódź were encouraged to send Christmas cards to… Donald Tusk. Interestingly, the cards contained pre-written text. “This is an unbelievable hit. At first I couldn’t believe what I saw and heard, but it is in fact true,” emphasized Piotr Cieplucha, a Łódź city councillor from Law and Justice (PiS).

Łódź: a campaign of sending Christmas cards from students to Tusk

In a recording, the politician pointed out that he received information about this “initiative” from the parents of the children. The youngsters were allegedly encouraged to send Christmas cards to Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The cards contained ready-made text – the children’s only task was to sign the “greetings”. It is worth recalling that since 2010 Łódź has been governed by Hanna Zdanowska (Civic Coalition).

This is what the greetings read:

“Mr Donald, we would like one day to fly into space and become astronauts, just like Sławosz. We want to learn about stars, satellites, and journeys to other planets. And when we grow up, we want to make our dreams come true. We want to study, fulfill our ambitions, and work in the professions of the future, including those we do not yet know today. We know that you can help us. Thanks to the European Space Agency (ESA), great opportunities may emerge in Łódź. Thanks to this, our city will be closer to the stars. That would be a very beautiful Christmas tree present for us.”

The campaign was organized by the Department of Education of the City of Łódź. “Thank you for your solidarity, energy, and commitment to the initiative for the future of the young generation and the construction of the headquarters of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Łódź,” officials wrote on social media.

In Cieplucha’s opinion, “Zdanowska’s people have completely lost touch with reality with the campaign titled ‘Łódź Closer to the Stars’.” He added that “watching this immediately brings various strange images to mind.”

Łódź is among the cities seeking to host the headquarters of one of the agencies of the European Space Agency (ESA). “I am curious, however, what Donald Tusk thinks about all this. Will he generously support Zdanowska’s idea, or will he once again get angry with her for thoughtlessly backing him into a corner?” he concluded.
