Such a Coalition Is Firmly Ruled Out by the PiS Leader. “It’s Samoobrona — but Cubed”

Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jarosław Kaczyński has unequivocally rejected the possibility of cooperating with the Confederation of the Polish Crown led by Grzegorz Braun. In doing so, he used a strong comparison. He also announced that Saturday’s convention is only the beginning of the campaign.

After Przemysław Czarnek was announced as PiS’s candidate for prime minister, Kaczyński answered questions on TV Trwam. One of them concerned a potential coalition with Braun’s political grouping — and on this matter the PiS leader left no room for doubt.

“This would be a monstrous embarrassment for our formation and for the entire Polish public life, as well as a disorganization of parliament,” Kaczyński said when asked about the scenario of cooperation with the Confederation of the Polish Crown.

The PiS leader used a blunt comparison:

“It is Samoobrona — but cubed,” he said about Braun’s party.

Kaczyński also announced that Saturday’s convention in Kraków marks only the opening of the campaign. As early as Sunday, Czarnek is expected to meet with the media at PiS headquarters in Warsaw. According to the party leader’s announcement, issues related to women are expected to appear during that meeting, which will take place on International Women’s Day — suggesting that the new candidate for prime minister intends to actively compete for the support of female voters.

The PiS campaign has begun — with Czarnek at the forefront and clearly defined boundaries regarding potential coalitions. The first personnel speculations have also already emerged. Kaczyński admitted that he sees Mateusz Morawiecki in a future Czarnek government, while Czarnek himself mentioned the former prime minister among the “people sitting in the top positions.”
