Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek has advanced to the 1/8 final of the Madrid tournament after easily defeating her opponent, Bernarda Pera, 6:3, 6:2. Swiatek confidently controlled the match and only allowed Pera to have limited success.

Tennis players Iga Swiatek and Bernarda Pera confidently secured two-set victories in the Madrid tournament. Swiatek of Poland defeated Austria’s Julia Grabher 6:3, 6:2, while Pera of the US bested Tatjana Maria 6:1, 6:3.

The match was off to a tense start as Swiatek failed to capitalize on three break-point balls in the second game. However, Pera responded quickly, breaking her opponent’s serve in the next game to take a 40:0 lead. The American maintained her momentum and converted the first opportunity to go ahead 1:2.

Just one minute later, the tables had turned. Świątek won all the points in her rival’s service game, and Pera had to forget about her 2:2 advantage. She also failed in the next service game, with two net hits and one off-court throw proving costly, giving Świątek the break (4:2). Świątek then continued her unstoppable form, regularly hitting the line to which Pera could not respond. The first set ended with a 6:3 victory for Świątek.

As the second set began, Pera’s chances for victory dwindled. Swiatek asserted her dominance with an early break, showcasing her superior skill and power with her signature “drive”. The Pole maintained her lead throughout, ultimately winning the set 6:2 and the match in two sets. Świątek now advances to the 1/8 final, where she will face the winner of the Qinwen Zheng – Ekaterina Alexandrova match.
