Iga Swiatek began her run at the Dubai tournament with a successful start. She had to compete with Leylah Fernandez from Canada for the second round match, which was much like the previous few and resulted in a 6:1, 6:1 victory.
Swiatek was in control of the meeting in Dubai right away. Despite taking the lead in the initial game, the rest of the match lacked energy. The finalist of the 2021 US Open tried to take the ball to different parts of the court but could not find a way to overcome Swiatek’s powerful performance. Ultimately, the set ended with a 6:1 score for Iga after 37 minutes had passed.
The second set was quite similar. The Canadian was able to win just one game and eventually, Swiatek defeated her 2-0.
In the third round, she faces Russian Lyudmila Samsonova. It has been scheduled for Wednesday, 22 February.
