Szymon Marciniak received a lot of positive feedback for his performance during the World Cup final. The 41-year-old’s superb performance has been recognised by the International Federation of Football Historians and Statisticians (IFFHS), who have nominated him for the award for best referee of 2022.
There are 25 names on the list of nominees. Among them are Anthony Taylor and Clement Turpin, who refereed the Champions League final this year.
Szymon Marciniak refereed three matches at the World Cup. In addition to the final, he was the referee for France’s matches against Denmark and Argentina’s against Australia.
