As reported by Tomasz Sakiewicz, there are emerging signals of critical failures or even shutdowns of the Telewizja Republika broadcast signal in many locations. He noted that this is happening just ahead of the second anniversary of the illegal takeover of Polish Television (TVP). Is this timing a coincidence?
“We are trying to determine where these issues overlap with one another (signal disruptions and shutdowns – ed.), where they are independent, and what the cause is. We are also receiving information from you that in many places there are disruptions in the reception of Republika. If it were not for this coincidence in timing, I would say that failures do happen, but today there are exceptionally many of them. There was a moment when we were flooded with reports that almost all major platforms broadcasting Republika suddenly went offline,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska.
Sakiewicz then pointed out that on December 19, 2023, the process of the forceful takeover of Polish Television began, followed the next day by a physical attack on the station’s headquarters.
“We do not yet know what the scale of these critical failures will be, so I would kindly ask for vigilance and for you to stay with us. We are activating emergency connections, but of course not everything can be fully controlled,” he emphasized.
He added that what is striking is that the signal disruptions occurred at the same time in different locations. “I don’t know whether this is a dress rehearsal or the beginning of something,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz.
“We live under conditions in which Telewizja Republika is a major irritant to those in power, and since the interview published in the Financial Times, in which we revealed that we have an international project supported by U.S. Ambassador Tom Rose, I have the impression that the situation is becoming increasingly tense — that those in power have panicked,” Sakiewicz said.
