    50th Kuyavia Folklore Festival in Ciechocinek

    The Kuyavia Folklore Festival in Ciechocinek is an event that attracts tradition and culture lovers from all over Poland. The 50th-anniversary edition of the festival took place from 23-25 June 2023.


    It is an event that attracts tradition and culture enthusiasts from all over Poland. The main objective of the festival is the presentation, promotion and documentation of authentic folk tradition, especially music and singing. The event has a competitive character, with the participation of folk bands, instrumentalists playing traditional instruments, singers and singing groups performing a repertoire in line with local traditions.

    Fair and Folk Art

    Artistic groups present a variety of Kuyavian dances and songs, from characteristic obereks to lyrical ballads, transporting us into the world of the past. Fiddles, accordions, tambourines and other traditional instruments will sound on stage, creating a unique folk atmosphere. The event is not only an opportunity to celebrate together, but also to meet, exchange experiences and build bonds between artists, researchers and lovers of folk culture. The festival unites different generations. Craftsmen from all over Poland also come to Ciechocinek for the handicraft and folk art fair.     The Kuyavia Folklore Festival began in 1971 and was only interrupted in 2020 and 2021 by COVID-19

    This year’s edition is a return to the roots. In terms of the length of its existence, only the Festival of Folk Bands and Singers in Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula Rive, which has been organised since 1966, is older.
