The Book “Rafał” Is Not Trzaskowski’s Writing Debut — PiS MPs Take Aim at the Warsaw Mayor

“Rafał Trzaskowski is once again making big promises, saying a lot, and changing his mind. Let today’s tour serve as proof of just how dishonest a politician he is,” said PiS MP Sebastian Kaleta on Sunday. Along with fellow lawmaker Jacek Ozdoba, Kaleta organized a media tour showcasing what they claim are the unfulfilled promises of the Mayor of Warsaw. According to them, the route included numerous stops.

“We want to present the beautiful fairy tales authored by Rafał Trzaskowski—because that well-known book ‘Rafał’ isn’t his debut,” Kaleta said. “His real debut was the 2018 program ‘Warsaw for Everyone’, full of fantastic ideas for the city. It turns out most of them were never implemented.”

Kaleta and Ozdoba reminded the public that Trzaskowski, deputy leader of the Civic Platform, has been running the capital for six years. They claim he’s once again making grand promises ahead of upcoming elections, and their tour is meant to demonstrate that he’s a “deceitful politician.”

“Trzaskowski’s program is a bit like the Civic Platform’s ‘100 promises’ — they ran for office, said a lot, and ended up doing very little,” said Ozdoba.

What Was on the Route?

“We’re starting in a symbolic place,” Kaleta said, standing at the intersection of Bora-Komorowskiego Avenue and Fieldorfa-Nila Street. “This was supposed to be a major transit hub — the location of a third metro line, a tram to Gocław. Do you see anything like that here? Of course not. There are no preparatory works, no construction underway.”

The route continued through Wiatraczna Roundabout, where an inner-city ring road was once promised, and Gocłowska Street, the intended site of the Symfonia Varsovia concert hall. “On the way to the National Stadium, we’ll pass what might be Poland’s most infamous recent project — the now-famous public toilet that cost 600,000 zł,” Kaleta added.

Among other broken promises listed by the PiS politicians were: roofing over the Wisłostrada, an underground parking lot at Bankowy Square, a care home for Warsaw Uprising veterans on Hrubieszowska Street, and the redevelopment of Służewiec Valley.

“We’ll go over all these grand promises that turned out to be nothing more than fairy tales,” Kaleta concluded.
