The Chancellery of the Polish President Responds to Media Reports: Official Statement Released

“We inform that the planned budget of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland (KPRP) for 2026 amounts to PLN 325.5 million (an increase of PLN 26.6 million, i.e., 8.9% more than in 2025). For comparison, the budget of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister will amount to PLN 648 million. Meanwhile, the expenditure budget of the Chancellery of the Senate will increase by PLN 38.1 million (15.32%), and the budget of the Chancellery of the Sejm will rise by PLN 52.6 million (6.2%) next year. In total, the budgets of the Chancellery of the Sejm and the Senate will exceed PLN 1 billion,” the Chancellery of the President stated in a communiqué issued in response to today’s media publications.

Yesterday, Rzeczpospolita and Dziennik Gazeta Prawna published articles concerning financial matters related to the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.

In Rzeczpospolita, Wiktor Ferfecki published an article titled “We Will Spend a Fortune on Nawrocki’s Travels. Details of the New President’s First Budget”, while in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Małgorzata Kryszkiewicz authored the piece “We Won’t Learn How Much Karol Nawrocki Pays Cenckiewicz. The Chancellery Refuses to Disclose Information.”

KPRP: We Will Spend Less Than Other Chancelleries

In response to the publications, the Chancellery of the President issued a statement yesterday, emphasizing that in 2026, it will spend less than the Chancellery of the Prime Minister or the Chancelleries of the Sejm and the Senate.

“We inform that the planned budget of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland for 2026 amounts to PLN 325.5 million (an increase of PLN 26.6 million, i.e., 8.9% more than in 2025). In total, the budgets of the Chancellery of the Sejm and the Senate will exceed PLN 1 billion,” the KPRP statement reads.

These funds will cover, among other things, the costs of ongoing operations, the activities of the National Security Bureau (BBN) and the Bureau of Presidential Legislation (BPM), as well as the remuneration and maintenance of offices of former Presidents of the Republic of Poland.

The KPRP notes that the increase in expenditures is linked to the “continuation of investments and renovations,” and that “a large portion of the planned funds will be allocated to maintaining historic buildings and national heritage sites, which constitute more than half of the properties administered by the Chancellery of the President.”

Furthermore, the statement points out that “it is natural for the first year of a presidency to involve greater expenditures related to the implementation of international policy tasks.” It also clarifies that the increase in travel expenditures in the KPRP for 2026 will not amount to 50%, but to 26%.

Salaries in the KPRP Are Public

Regarding remuneration, the KPRP stated that salaries are public and that ministers in the KPRP earn the same as ministers in the government. The salaries are defined by the Act on the Remuneration of Persons Holding State Managerial Positions of July 31, 1981, and by the President’s regulation of November 22, 2021, on the detailed rules for remunerating persons holding state managerial positions.

“We also draw attention to the fact that expenditure on salaries is increasing at a rate lower than the overall budget growth, and the KPRP budget plan for 2026 does not include any pay raises for ministers,” the statement concludes.
