The Internal Security Agency (ABW) detained Dariusz Matecki, a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. He was on his way to the prosecutor’s office!

As reported by TV Republika journalist Michał Gwardyński, MP Dariusz Matecki was apprehended while travelling by car to the prosecutor’s office, where he intended to give testimony. The arrest took place in traffic on Towarowa Street in Warsaw.

Gwardyński described the presence of three ABW vans that blocked Matecki’s vehicle. Several officers emerged from the vans, forced open the door of the car, and removed the MP.

One of the ABW vehicles reportedly observed the TV Republika car for a brief period.

Prosecutor’s Office under Bodnar seeks to present six charges

The National Prosecutor’s Office has announced that MP Dariusz Matecki will be taken to the National Prosecutor’s Office today, where a prosecutor will present him with charges of committing six offences and interrogate him as a suspect.

“The arrest was necessary primarily due to a justified concern over unlawful obstruction of the proceedings and the need for the immediate application of a preventive measure (grounds for detention under Article 247 § 1 points 1 and 2, as well as § 2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure),”

stated the unlawfully seized National Prosecutor’s Office.

He voluntarily appeared at the prosecutor’s office

Yesterday, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland voted in favour of allowing the detention and temporary arrest of PiS MP Dariusz Matecki. The prosecutor’s motion is related to an investigation concerning the Justice Fund. Earlier, on Wednesday evening, Matecki voluntarily renounced his parliamentary immunity in this case.

On Thursday, early in the afternoon, PiS MP Dariusz Matecki arrived at the National Prosecutor’s Office building to provide testimony.

“I consider it my duty. Despite the fact that this is an unlawfully seized Prosecutor’s Office, I have an obligation to my voters to explain the accusations publicly made by politicians of the ruling camp and the media,”

he stated. However, the prosecutor did not find the time to question him.

On Thursday evening, MP Matecki was at the offices of TV Republika, awaiting his arrest. In front of the station’s headquarters, a group of individuals gathered in solidarity with the politician.
