The heated discussion on TVP Info continues to reverberate. Following the controversial remarks by historian Kazimierz Wóycicki, who equated the Home Army with the UPA, the National Broadcasting Council intervened. Today, Law and Justice (PiS) MP Łukasz Schreiber returned to the issue, but the program’s host, Kamila Biedrzycka, unexpectedly ended the conversation, citing a lack of time.
During the program “Kłamstwo nie przejdzie” broadcast on June 12 on TVP Info, statements were made that sparked widespread controversy. Historian Kazimierz Wóycicki stated that the Home Army and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army were “two national liberation armies”, and then said directly: “AK is UPA”. The statement met with sharp criticism and prompted a response from the National Broadcasting Council. The regulator asked TVP in liquidation for explanations, indicating that in matters concerning history and national memory, the broadcaster should demonstrate “particular sensitivity and diligence”.
As KRRiT points out, “during the broadcast, statements were made comparing the Home Army to the UPA and attributing responsibility for the Volhynia crimes to Poles. These words were left without reaction from the program’s host, Mateusz Dolatowski, and the journalist did not allow a participant attempting to challenge them to speak”.
“Dr. Agnieszka Glapiak, Chairwoman of the National Broadcasting Council, expects explanations regarding the manner in which the discussion was conducted and the fulfillment by the public broadcaster of its obligations in terms of reliability, pluralism, and responsibility for the content presented,” the statement reads.
The Council indicates that “it should be emphasized that issues concerning national memory and historical facts require particular sensitivity and diligence, which were lacking in the broadcast of TVP S.A. in liquidation”.

Today, during a morning program on TVP Info in liquidation, a station employee addressed opposition politicians with the words: “will you come to your senses? Because this is heading in a very, very dangerous direction. Briefly, because we have little time, but the matter is important”. The discussion concerned Polish-Ukrainian relations.
At that moment, Łukasz Schreiber, an MP from Law and Justice (PiS), recalled Wóycicki’s Friday statement quoted above.
“Mr. Wóycicki – do you remember the expert from this television who also made disgraceful statements?” the politician said.
Shortly afterward – the host of the segment, Kamila Biedrzycka, decided to end the program, explaining it by a “lack of time”.
“I promise that next time we can start with this. Unfortunately – time is not made of rubber,” Biedrzycka said.
