The Left Takes Over State Fund: 6 Out of 8 Directors Have Ties to the Party

All the campaign promises made by the December 13 coalition about fighting nepotism and the politicization of public institutions now appear to have been shelved. This time, media are reporting on the Left’s apparent grab for top jobs at the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (PFRON).

During the 2023 election campaign, Donald Tusk and other coalition leaders loudly denounced alleged nepotism and political cronyism in state-owned companies and public institutions. However, since the change of government, the politicization of public appointments seems to be thriving—and with each passing month, the media are revealing more evidence of it.

The latest outlet to report on the issue is Super Express, which took a closer look at director-level appointments within PFRON.

“What’s happening at PFRON goes beyond typical political maneuvering,” notes journalist Jacek Prusinowski, author of the article.

He points out that in recent months, eight regional directors at the fund have been replaced—and six of those new directors have direct links to the Left party, often having run in local or parliamentary elections under its banner.

According to Super Express sources, this is largely due to PFRON’s leadership, which is reportedly “making sure party affiliates are placed in key positions.”

Among the new directors with ties to the Left are:

  • Iwona Spychała-Długosz (former candidate for regional assembly),
  • Robert Szyszka (former county council candidate),
  • Dariusz Daraż,
  • Monika Wac (regional assembly candidate),
  • Bartosz Baszczyński (regional assembly candidate),
  • Kamila Gołębiowska (current councilor).

Super Express reached out to PFRON for comment, but had not received a response at the time of publication.
