The President continues meetings with politicians. He wants to build a “coalition of good causes”

“The President does not engage in party politics. That is not the role of the President of the Republic of Poland. However, he must talk, and he does talk, and wants to talk with all those who wish to address issues important to Poland,” declared Zbigniew Bogucki, Head of the Chancellery of the President, when asked about the head of state’s contacts with right-wing politicians.

Meetings between the President and opposition politicians

The leader of Confederation (Konfederacja), Sławomir Mentzen, reported that he had spoken on Monday with President Karol Nawrocki about the Senate pact between Confederation and Law and Justice (PiS). According to the MP, Nawrocki would act as the host of the pact between the two parties.

Zbigniew Bogucki, Head of the Chancellery of the President, responded to these remarks today.

“The President talks with various people, with different politicians and leaders, primarily those who have representation in the Polish parliament. This is nothing new, nothing unusual. […] Not all of these conversations become public knowledge. In this particular case, it happened so thanks to Sławomir Mentzen,” said the politician on Graffiti on Polsat News.

“A coalition of good causes

He added that “the President is holding normal talks in order to build a coalition of good causes. He clarified, I’m not saying a coalition specifically with Confederation. For example, it was possible to build the ‘Yes to CPK’ coalition.

Bogucki also pointed out that the President does not enter party politics, as that is not the role of the President of the Republic of Poland.

He must talk, and he does talk, and wants to talk with all those who wish to address issues important to Poland. It’s not just Mr. Sławomir Mentzen – there are also other politicians. Of course, the President is not passive, and that is evident in these meetings, he concluded.
