“Answers to Europe’s problems can be found right here, in Poland,” said the U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose, commenting on former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s idea of creating an “Economic NATO.”
On Monday, Mateusz Morawiecki published a report pointing to the need for changes within the European Union and for strengthening transatlantic relations. The former prime minister proposed, among other things, the creation of an “Economic NATO” — a free-trade and technology bloc of NATO countries and their allies.
“We need a new force. A new foundation. The answer is an ‘Economic NATO’ — an alliance in which Europe and the United States jointly defend not only their borders, but also their jobs, their technologies, and their economies. An alliance that protects against Chinese dumping and against raw-material blackmail. An alliance that combines NATO’s military power with real economic cooperation, free trade, joint investments, secure supply chains, energy, semiconductors, and technology,” we hear in material published by the Law and Justice (PiS) politician.
“They Can Help Save Europe”
The former prime minister’s ideas were commented on by the U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose, who described them as “exceptional.”
“[…] they can help save Europe,” he stated.
“Answers to Europe’s problems can be found right here, in Poland!” he added.
