This Is the Highest Pension in Poland. Incredible How Long He Had to Work for It

The highest pension in Poland is received by a man with a 67-year work record, the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) reported. Meanwhile, the lowest amount paid by ZUS is… 2 groszy. Two people in Poland currently receive such a benefit.

According to the latest ZUS data, in December 2025 the highest pension in Poland amounted to PLN 51,400 gross. It is received by a man whose work experience totals 67 years.

On the other hand, the lowest pension paid by ZUS was PLN 0.02. It is received by a woman who worked for only one day and a man who worked for just one month.

Data published by ZUS show that the number of so-called “grosz pensions” has increased from 23,900 in 2011 to 433,100 in 2024. In 2011, they accounted for 4.2 percent of all new-system pensions, while in 2024 their share rose to 9.9 percent.

As every year, in March pensioners will see an indexation of benefits. In June 2025, the government proposed that pensions and disability benefits increase by at least 4.9 percent. Based on this assumption – according to government forecasts – the lowest pension would rise from PLN 1,878.91 to PLN 1,970.98 starting March 1, 2026, an increase of PLN 92.07.

The final rate of this year’s indexation will be announced after the President of the Central Statistical Office (GUS) publishes the actual inflation figures, as well as the average wage growth from the previous year. GUS releases these data every year at the beginning of February.

Approximately PLN 22 billion has been allocated in the state budget for this year’s pension indexation. The indexation mechanism involves multiplying the benefit amount and its calculation base by the indexation rate. This rate is the average annual consumer price index from the previous calendar year, increased by at least 20 percent of the real growth in the average wage from the previous year.

From March 1, 2025, the lowest pension, total disability pension, survivor’s pension, and social pension amounts to PLN 1,878.91. Meanwhile, the lowest partial disability pension is PLN 1,409.18.

The retirement age in Poland is 60 for women and 65 for men.
