Several thousand people, including football fans from GKS Katowice, Ruch Chorzów, GKS Tychy, Górnik Zabrze, and Zagłębie Sosnowiec, as well as veterans of the anti-communist underground from the PRL (Polish People’s Republic) era, are protesting today at the Market Square in Katowice against illegal migration.
Supporters of, among others, GKS Katowice, Ruch Chorzów, GKS Tychy, Górnik Zabrze, and Zagłębie Sosnowiec marched from AKS Chorzów to the centre of Katowice. The main part of the demonstration is taking place at the Market Square. Participants sang the national anthem and chanted slogans such as “Silesia free from illegal refugees,” “United Upper Silesia,” “This is Poland, not Brussels – don’t support immigration,” and “Donald is a traitor.” Veterans of the anti-communist underground from the PRL era are also present.
“My grandfather, Adam Łagan, marched the entire route with General Anders’ army. He was awarded the Gold Cross of the Virtuti Militari, and that comes with responsibility. I am here because I protest against Bolsheviks, communists, and the government of Donald Tusk, as well as the entire ‘December 13 coalition.’ I was in Solidarity, I was persecuted, so I’m not afraid now either,” said Stanisław Łagan from Mysłowice, a retired miner from the Wesoła coal mine in Mysłowice. “And on August 6, I’ll be in Warsaw for President Nawrocki’s swearing-in. That’s what must be done.”
Kazimierz Biskupek, a board member of the Association of Martial Law Victims in the Silesia-Dąbrowa Region, also protested against illegal migration.
“I lived and worked in West Germany for 20 years. I couldn’t return to Poland,” Mr. Kazimierz explained in an interview with niezalezna.pl. “I lost my family. But I worked hard, and I learned the language. And now? Illegal immigrants are invading Europe and Poland, and we’re supposed to just deal with it? With what? How? That’s why I protest!”
