We are living in times when communism is making a full-scale comeback – in Poland its manifestations include Comrade Włodzimierz Czarzasty, serving as Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, and left-wing activist Marta Lempart, a specialist in street riots and vulgar outbursts, who has been appointed a government expert on activism and volunteering. The whole world is turning red! And Poland, too, is being flooded with red! – writes Tomasz Łysiak in his column for Niezalezna.
The murder of French student Quentin Deranque has shaken France and will likely have political repercussions. From my seat in still snow-covered Poland, I watch with fascination the international cauldron that in recent weeks and months has been heating up the global media with the bubbling of successive disputes and crises. The Italian press emphasizes how the left is increasingly trying to rule the world using ever more brutal methods – and when something stands in its way, it reaches for the most violent means.
Quentin was murdered in broad daylight, on the street, by militants from French branches of Antifa, who kicked and beat a defenseless man lying on the pavement, all “in defense of democracy” against fascism. Notably, left-wing media outlets continue trying to portray the victim as a “fascist”, attaching pejorative labels such as “nationalist” and quietly suggesting – though not explicitly – that the leftist militants beat him because he was a “terrible neo-Nazi”. He was not. He was a conservative, fascinated by the old Latin liturgy, deeply immersed in the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas. He was killed by the Young Guard, a left-wing group cooperating with French leftist politicians, including the party La France Insoumise (LFI) and MP Raphaël Arnault, whose assistant was reportedly implicated in the murder.
When Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented – in her direct and characteristic style – on the actions of French leftists, she was rebuked by Emmanuel Macron, who told her to remain silent and suggested she focus on her own backyard instead of commenting on what is happening elsewhere. Once again, tensions flared along the France-Italy line, so one might as well grab some popcorn and turn to the foreign press, waiting to see what happens next.
In fact, Giorgia also faces problems with the left at home. At the opening of the Olympic Games, Antifa organized street battles in Milan, turning the Olympic flame into the fire of Molotov cocktails. Later, left-wing saboteurs blew up railway tracks. Most recently, representatives of German NGOs such as Sea-Watch have been celebrating in Italy – receiving what can only be described as a “gift” from Italian courts in the form of rulings ordering the Italian state to pay high compensation for blocking the transport of illegal migrants to Italian territory and refusing them entry to ports. It makes one’s hair stand on end.
We are living in times when communism is truly resurging – in Poland its manifestations include Comrade Czarzasty as Deputy Marshal of the Sejm and left-wing activist Marta Lempart, now a government expert on activism and volunteering. The whole world is turning red! And Poland, too, is being flooded with red!
